In the next issue of E-ON (#011, out April) we will be publishing an article about the "Good Old Days" of EVE, to see if they really were as great as some of us remember, overrated, or somewhere in between. If you're a day one veteran and interested in taking part, EVEmail me with a very short bio and I'll get back to you in a couple of days with some questions.
We apologize for the inconvenience this reboot may cause you.

"Aurora Security and the rest of the residents of Solitude have grown tired of these brigands and their allies," he said. "This is a call to all of Solitude to join ranks and show these low life punks that Solitude is not their playground. This call also goes out to the (Solitude) community that borders on Syndicate. We need to teach these pirates that preying on innocents is punishable by death."
The situation in Solitude is not a simple one. When contacted for an interview, Darqnite of the Soul Cartel Alliance agreed that a coalition is needed to deal with the pirate problem in Solitude but he classified The Cyrene Initiative as part of the problem. "These people," he said, "openly flaunt the traditional rules of war and attack anyone and everyone."
XxKatharsisxX and XxTiggerxX, the actual leaders of the Soul Cartel, do not deny that they are pirates. They point out, however, that…
Due to these issues, we will be removing the patch during downtime tomorrow, 18 January. Having the new file will not affect your install once the fix is removed, and you will still be able to log in normally.
To manual patch:
Please note that these are default locations for English Windows installs only. The programmers are currently working on a tool to resolve this problem for those people with non-default/non-English installs.
Download the file here.
You will then need to create the following directory, and place the file in that directory. As before, these are default directories, so if you have a custom install this is unlikely to work.

The database contains a notice that not everyone in it is necessarily guilty. "All I do," VonHeise said, "is put the information out there with both parties saying from their perspective what happened and then I let those who read it make the determination as to who they are going to believe. If I get someone coming to me and complaining about the actual information I make a "disputed" entry and let people read that as well."
The database contains thefts ranging from 20 million ISK to 700 billion ISK (from the infamous EIB scam). When asked about his inclusion of some of the smaller thefts VonHeise said, "If someone takes a small amount they have shown they cannot be trusted...If you can't be trusted with small amounts you can't be trusted…
This will all take place in the "Live Dev Blog" in game channel this Thursday, 17 January, from 20:00 to 21:00 GMT. To participate you'll need EVE Voice active and then join the in game channel and join audio. A recording of the Live Dev Blog will be made available at a later date.
Asking questions is easy, just go to this forum thread and post your questions! Please remember that the topic is the EVE Fiction and we'll focus on the fiction outside the actual agme, other questions may not be answered.
Potential readers may be interested to know that all buyers of the magazine get a free DVD featuring highlights from the recent Fanfest (massive thanks to CCP and EVE TV for that). Personally I think it's one of the best issues to date and I'd like to thank contributers past and present for helping to make the mag such a valued piece of EVE literature, and to readers and subscribers for their continued feedback.
Framed above and below by vibrant red and white gas clouds and set amid a backdrop of scattered stars, the Ceremonial Grounds in the New Caldari system will live in the minds of only the few, fortunate Pod Pilots who marry there.
Even in today's busy world, some pod pilots manage to find the time for romance. These minority are able to put aside work and make room for partners, wives and husbands. Evanda Char, a Minmatar senior member of Electus Matari, made the time for marriage. In an interview, Evanda explained about how her relationship with the Caldari national Meklon began and developed, eventually turning into a marriage. Like everything in life, their relationship has its successes and difficulties.
"When we first met, he'd just taken over from Thetis Midvar as the head of our alliance. We were both working closely to build the alliance and take it new places. We were working so closely together and, well, he was quite a funny guy. With implants like that, I guess you have to be. We had a lot of fun together and got closer and closer, the way people do. There was a bit…
This is an unintended game mechanic and it will be fixed as soon as possible. Until then we are putting a stop to this situation and anyone found abusing this loophole will receive a warning for their trouble. Repeated offenses of this nature may also result in a ban.
The Interstellar Correspondents have investigated reports of a major fleet engagement involving a Titan class starship belonging to Evolution of the Band of Brothers alliance along with over 800 other ships in the system 49-U6U, the sovereignty of which is held by Interstellar Alcohol Conglomerate.
The Doomsday weapon on the Avatar, piloted by Shrike, was fired three times over the course of a conflict that saw Band of Brothers heavily out gunned, Coalition rivalries break out in fighting, the destruction of many hundreds of star ships and what is believed to be an unexplained solar event.
Events started when a fleet belonging to Band of Brothers was spotted in the region and became engaged in the systems surrounding 49-U6U including 4-07MU and 25S-6P. The Titan jumped into 49-U6U and fired its doomsday weapon at the 4-07MU star gate, "killing maybe 20 to 30" according to VileLust who spoke to us on behalf of the alliance Interstellar Alcohol Conglomerate. Following this, a single Heavy Interdictor managed to tackle the Titan, keeping it pinned to the star gate.
Word was sent to the Coalition forces that the ship was held in the system and ships from the entire of the…

To be a titan pilot is the dream of countless capsuleers, yet those who have joined this exclusive
club say the risk and cost may not be worth it.
The role of titan pilot is in many ways an unattainable elite status. Capsule pilots are already nearly gods in themselves, so those who fly the handful of titans in existence make up a tiny group with more metaphorical weight than many galactic political figures. Yet not all these pilots are happy with their decision. In recent interviews, titan pilots described a similar unhappiness with their choice to fly the rarest ship class in the universe.
"In the past, titans have been used as a scare tactic as much as a blob eliminator," notes DHB Wildcat of Burn Eden Corporation. Pilots unused to titan warfare simply fled in disarray with the mere appearance of a titan on the battlefield. This gave the titan a particular unquantifiable advantage: fear.
With the march of time however, the fear factor of a titan appearing nearby has decreased. Recent times have seen many updates and changes made to the public titan blueprints, removing many tactical options which were considered the class' main strengths. These included…
As GM Nova stated, there are a number of changes made to the rules so there is a more level playing surface. These changes include:
- The most striking change is disallowing pirate implant sets. This will negate the huge advantage some high grade sets were providing.
- Faction battleships have been reduced in price by 5 points. We should now see more faction battleships as well as tech two battleships.
- The TotalHellDeath bonus has changed; or rather the requirements have changed, making it harder to get this bonus.
- Maximum warp in distance has been shortened to 50km.
This Tournament should be the biggest and best yet. Who will claim bragging rights for this year? Get ready to watch and find out!
The Fifth Alliance Tournament, coming to your computer screen, Soon!
A few familiar faces will be returning to your screens, and the idea is to bolster their ranks by adding some new experts to the EVE TV team. To this end, we're opening the application process for experts. There are a few requirements, which will be listed below, but first, a small request:
I'd love to get a roleplaying representative on. Some feel they've been given short shrift on previous shows, so here's our invitation: If you know your PvP, and you're really into the RP side of the game, you should apply (we promise you'll be treated as well as anyone else).
So, you want to be an expert, but unsure of what you need? The list is here:
- You need to know combat. We don't despise industrialists, mission-runners, miners and macro-haulers, but as this is a PvP tournament, you need…
In the past 12 months we have seen alliances born and destroyed, the Coallition-Band of Brothers war grow to new heights, the destruction of Titan class star ships, and sovereignty shift daily as numerous alliances fight tooth and claw for their own space.
And in empire held space we have seen the Minmatar Republic and Ammatar Mandate cease hostilities and begin negotiating peace, civil unrest within the State, the Federation fighting back against a swathe of illegal booster dealing and the Amarr Empire still without an Emperor to guide them.
But away from galactic scale events, what does the New Year mean to individual pilots? Classically it is the time when we look back on the past 12 months and take what we have learned to help us through the coming year. It is a time of personal reflection, contemplation, change, and for many: exuberant parties.

From all of us to all of you, Merry Christmas!
Greetings fellow pod pilots!
After the recent months of hard work to bring you the Trinity expansion, we have finally had a bit of time to start putting our heads together and get the wheels of the Fifth Alliance Tournament moving.
Under the watchful eye of GM Nova, the tournament committee of GM Xamother, CCP Fendahl, and CCP Mindstar (that?s me!) will be working to bring you the best tournament yet! Over the next few weeks we will be looking over the rules and points used in the last tournament, and working out what (if anything) we think could be better.
What I can tell you is that overall we felt the last tournament was a great success. As such, it will be quite similar to last time with a few tweaks here and there. If you have any suggestions or comments, there is a discussion thread in the PVP Tournament forum, where feedback would be very much appreciated.
In the interest of keeping you informed, there are a few bits of information we do know!
- Dates - We are planning to hold it over the first two weekends of March 2008 (Starting 29th Feb. Yes, it?s a leap year!).
